MIKAL KARTVEDT
CEO, MPH PRODUCTIONS

Mikal Kartvedt is the Chief Executive Officer and founder of MPH Productions, LLC, a production company started in 2005 to create and produce racing drama for the reality television genre. Kartvedt also provides professional stunt coordination and production for film, television and commercial products.

In addition to directing the production efforts of MPH as CEO, Kartvedt is responsible for creating and securing new projects, acquiring property rights and developing materials.

At the age of nine, he began racing and riding both motorcycles and dune buggies, and his passion for stunts rocketed from there.

Hailing from Whitworth University [College], WA 1989, with theater and sociology degrees, Kartvedt and fellow alum (now producing partner) Matthew Tompkins produced, directed and acted in the first student-produced plays (penned by Tompkins) in the 100 year history of the school.

Armed with undaunted drive and early success, Kartvedt and Tompkins moved to New York City upon graduation. Kartvedt pursued perfecting stunt work, earned his SAG card and began his stunt career building an impressive list of film and television credits.

Not long after working for Dick Ziker on the feature Carlito's Way (1993), Kartvedt relocated to Los Angeles, where a steady flow of commercial, TV and film work including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Alias, Mind of Mencia, Cold Case, and independent features began to roll in. Recently he wrapped coordination on The Last Word starring Winona Ryder and Ray Romano.

Getting to drive fast cars with precision, coordinate cool on-screen fight scenes with weaponry and perform heart-stopping high falls is only part of his world. Kartvedt's memories from childhood of going out with his family to off-road together constructed a lifestyle of outdoor recreation.

Carrying those family memories, his talent and action creativity led him to originate and develop the inaugural project for MPH, "The Race for Baja," the first reality television adventure series in history culminating in a completely sanctioned and world famous auto race, the Tecate/SCORE Baja 1000. Over 30 years of personal off-road adventures and tight connections with racing legends, coupled with his TV and film entertainment experience birthed "The Race for Baja" concept.

Kartvedt married in 1991 to Whitworth alum Nan Marie Durst, and they reside in Los Angeles with their two daughters. They are active volunteers in their church, and devoted to participation in their daughters' activities. Perpetuating the love of the outdoors, Kartvedt's family enjoys skiing, camping, and fishing together.
